NW CE 7.2, new track for composite app, can't create any DCs

Former Member

Hello specialists

We're running a PI instance (7.1 EhP1) on host A and a separate CE instance (7.2) on host B. ESR, SR, DTR, CMS, CBS, etc. (NWDI aka usage type DI) runs (was post-installed) on host A.

We're able to create tracks on NWDI host (A) as well as via CE host (B) using the appropriate configuration wizard.

We want to develop composite applications. Thus during configuration wizard we choose template "Composite Application 7.2".

When track creation is finished we can upload the development configuration successfully in Developer Studio. The SC dependencies required for development of composite applications are there. Everything seems to be fine...

BUT:

We're not able to create any DCs within this track. Regardless which DC type we try to select... it's grayed out and following message shows up:

Software component does not support this development component type. Required DCs are located in an SC that is not visible from the selected one.

I don't really understand what to do with it.

Not sure if this is of any relevance to our problem:

Folder /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in/CMSgeminiPPI exists on host A but doesn't contain any SCA files.

Folder /usr/sap/ /SYS/EPS/buildarchives does not exist on host B... and no SCA files there (to upload them via http to CMS server)

Any help to get this solved is greatly appreciated.

TIA

Renaud

Hi,

there's no single file to download which would include all the files you require since the files to import are depending on your development needs.

Please go to the CMS -- Landscape Configurator -- Track Data -- and check in the table on the bottom what software dependencies you have defined. What is listed there, those are the SCs to download. After you have downloaded them (pay attention to take the ones matching to the given release you develop for) and then put into the inbox folder, check-in, and import into Development.

If you are stuck, it is also fine if you tell me what are the SCs you can see on the track data tab and then I try to guide you from where to get them from the marketplace.

Ervin

Hi

Thanks again for clarifying it to me. This are the SCs showing up under Track Data. I already tried to find the right SCA files on service.sap.com/patches -> SAP NetWeaver and complementary products -> SAP NETWEAVER CE -> SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.2 -> Entry by Component -> ...

It would be great if someone could verify this as I'm not sure on every SCA file if it's the right one to choose (quite difficult because SC naming, naming within service.sap.com/patches... and filename is not always exactly the same):

CAF = SAP CAF 7.20 SP04 (filename = CAF04P_3-10006823.SCA)

CAF-MF = CAF MF 7.20 SP04 (filename = CAFMF04P_1-1006825.SCA)

ENGFACADE = J2EE ENGINE FACADE 7.20 (filename = ENGFACADE04_0-10006841.SCA)

ENGINEAPI = ENGINEAPI 7.20 SP04 (filename = ENGINEAPI04P_5-10006842.SCA)

EP-BASIS = PORTAL BASIS 7.20 SP04 (filename = EPBASIS04P_3-10006845.SCA)

EP-BASIS-API = PORTAL BASIS API 7.20 (filename = EPBASISAPI04_0-10006846.SCA)

EP-MODELING = EP MODELING 7.20 (filename = EPMODELING04_0-10006848.SCA)

EP_BUILDT = EP BUILD TOOL 7.20 (filename = EPBUILDT04_0-10006843.SCA)

ESCONF_BUILDT = ESCONF BUILD TOOL 7.20 (filename = ESCONFBUILDT04_0-10006852.SCA)

ESF = ES FRAMEWORK 7.20 (filename = ESF04_0-10006853.SCA)

ESMP_BUILDT = ESMP BUILD TOOL 7.20 SP04 (filename = ESMPBUILDT04P_1-10006855.SCA)

FRAMEWORK = J2EE ENGINE FRAMEWORK 7.20 SP04 (filename = J2EEFRMW04P_7-10006869.SCA)

MMR_SERVER = MMR SERVER 7.20 (filename = MMRSERVER04_0-10006904.SCA)

MOIN_BUILDT = MOIN BUILD TOOL 7.20 (filename = MOINBUILDT04_0-10006905.SCA)

SAP_BUILDT = ??? (couldn't find it)

VCBASE = VISUAL COMPOSER BASE 7.20 (filename = VCBASE04_0-10006939.SCA)

VCFRAMEWORK = VISUAL COMPOSER FRAMEWORK 7.20 (filename = VCFRAMEWORK04_0-10006940.SCA)

VCFREESTYLEKIT = VC FREESTYLE KIT 7.20 (filename = VCFREESTYLEKIT04_0-10006941.SCA)

VTP_BUILDT = VISUAL_PATTERN BUILD TOOL 7.20 (filename = VTPBUILDT04_0-10006946.SCA)

WD-RUNTIME = WEB DYNPRO RUNTIME 7.20 SP04 (filename = WDRUNTIME04P_1-10006954.SCA)

WDEXTENSIONS = WEB DYNPRO EXTENSIONS 7.20 SP04 (filename = WDEXTENSIONS04P_5-20004230.SCA)

We are running CE server 7.20 with 2 additional NW CE Developer Workplaces 7.20. Our ESR, SR, CMS, CBS, etc. is running on a separate NW PI host (7.1 EhP1).

Am I correct if I download the SCs with release 7.20 because the CE runtinme runs on our CE server 7.20 SP04?

Thanks again and best regards

Renaud

Hi Renaud,

first of all I am glad to hear that I managed to help you in the missing DC Types issue.

Regarding the custom vendor in NWDS at DC creation have a look at the document I have attached (namereservation.doc).

Sorry, it is an older guide, but the procedure is pretty much the same.

Best Regards,

Ervin

Hi Renaud,

you can always find out the "logical and physical" name as per the SLD's Software Catalog (you can reach it from the main page of http://<host>:<port>/sld --> See the screenshot sld_sc_catalog.jpg I have attached).

Thanks to all and especially to Ervin for clarifying this to me. Now all DC types are available in developer studio.

However, when creating a new DC vendor id was always set to "sap.com". This can be solved by setting appropriate name reservations in SLD.

Hi Renaud,

this is the "JAVA FRAMEWORK OFFLINE 7.20"

(not to be confused with "J2EE ENGINE FRAMEWORK 7.20" which is J2EEFRMW)

Hi,

according to the previously sent note the required SCs for WebDynpro for Java are:

(as discussed these must be also imported into the development buildspace)

COMP_BUILDT

ECM-CORE

ENGFACADE

ENGINEAPI

ESCONF_BUILDT

ESF

FRAMEWORK

MOIN_BUILDT

SAP_BUILDT

WD-RUNTIME

double-checked it... all are checked-in and imported into buildspace except for FRAMEWORK.

What is the required SCA file for this one?

Thanks a lot again!

HI,

SAP_BUILDT is under the name DI BUILD TOOL.

Regarding your assumption, it is correct, if you have a track you develop for 720 (which you do according to the above list you sent), you can deploy it to 720 runtime systems. Please pay attention to checkin such SCs which have the same SP version like the version of the engine where you deploy to (I think in your case you need to download the 720 SP4 versions of the above listed SCs, since you intend deploy to 720 SP4 runtime system)

By the way, you may welcome this note as well:

Ok, most DC types are available now!

Still unavailable DC types:

Dictionary

Portal Application Standalone

Web Dynpro

What are the required SCA files for DC type "Web Dynpro"?

Thanks again and best regards

Hi,

first of all let's discuss which is the CMS transport folder to use.

Go to the CMS webui -- Landscape Configurator -- Domain Data tab -- Check the Tranport Folder field here which will point in your case most likely to /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in/CMSgeminiPPI, but please doublecheck.

Now the SCs has to be in the following folder: <your transport folder>/CMS/inbox, i.e. in your case this is most likely:

/usr/sap/trans/EPS/in/CMSgeminiPPI/CMS/inbox

The SCs won't be available as default, but one need to download the required SCs from the service Marketplace (http://service.sap.com/patches) and put into the above mentioned inbox folder.

Once it is done, you need to do a "Check-in" of these SC files. You do this in CMS webui -- Transport Studio -- Check-in tab.

After this, an Import of these SCs (into development buildspace) has to be triggered. This is done on the next tab, on the "Development" tab.

As soon as all these imports finished succesfully, you can start your NWDS and you can try reproducing the issue. This time the DC types should not be grayed out any more.

Hi Ervin

Thanks a lot for replying!

Folders are set correctly, just double-checked it. It's set to /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in/CMSgeminiPP

However, no SCs are in /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in/CMSgeminiPPI/CMS/inbox

I'm not really sure where exactly the required SCs can be downloaded. Is this the correct place?

SAP NetWeaver and complementary products -> SAP NETWEAVER CE -> SAP NETWEAVER CE 7.2 -> Entry by Component -> Development Infrastructure

And which ones do I need to download exactly? Isn't there a single package available to download which contains all SCs that are required?

Hi Renaud,

please read SAP Note 1536755 - "DC type is grayed out. What can be done?".

In section "Related Notes" you will find additional information about the required SCs for the different kinds of development.

Best regards,
