Type of BOM

I have a product say xxx & for that 3mm,4mm,5mm,6mm bolts can be used.i want to create such a BOM which will select bolt based on availability in stock, if 3mm bolt is in stock & others are not in stock, system should use BOM of 3mm.also i dont want to create alternative BOM.

is their any other type of BOM which will fullfill this requirment.

Hi Pushkar,

You can use the alternative item group definition (on BOM item level). In this case you use just a normal BOM, and only one.

The thing is that this definition will not work in MRP planning, but only in ATP of production order.

If you need this to work in planning too, you'll need to employ a DI extention functionality - supersession chains (for parts interchangeability.
