Inquiry & Quotation material issue

Hi,

I have a requirement that once inquiry received from the customer same need to be captured in the system with all specification of the product(capacity,frequency,voltage etc..,) and with reference to same inquiry Quotation need to be created where it is applicable for pricing,schedules need to be given and once quotation is approved by customer then the design department will create the material code and with the newly created material code sales order will be prepared and requirement will be transferred to production and rest of the cycle Delivery & invoice will happen.

If we create as material as text in Inquiry & Quotation pricing is not possible or is it possible to make pricing happen?

Client want material master to be created once order is confirmed but not @ inquiry or Quotation stage!!

Could anybody suggest how to map in the SAP system.

Hi Karthikeyan,

Since teh values frequency, voltage and current can change depending on each customer.

Create a configurable material with characteristics Frequency, voltage and Current.

Fix the value range for each characteristics such as 0-100, 100-250 and 250 and above.

The pricing can be picked depending upon the characteristic values.

PP module have certain constraints in using Variant configuration.As mentioned such characteristics will helpful in narrowdown the search but there are lot of factors which decides teh design of the product.

Like even 2mm dimension change will result in new design.

This is a case of post engineering; it is like a project. Try using methods and functions from PS area. It may help you out, probably in a way that is a bit different rom what you had in mind, but at the end may prove better.

You can create a dummy material exclusively to be used for this purpose. And in sales order you use the actual one.

But the sales order document flow will not show inquiry and quotation since it is at item level.
