Reversing Handling Unit Managed Warehouse in SAP

I have 2 manufacturing warehouses and 1 parts warehouse - The 2 manufacturing warehouses are serialized and handling unit managed. The parts warehouse is not serialized but handling unit managed. 5 years later we realized that the parts warehouse is at a disadvantage due to using Handling Unit Management. Their processes will be much more efficient if they remove HUM in their warehouse. Does SAP or anyone has any advice as to the process in reversing the handling unit management in this parts warehouse. The 2 manufacturing plants does ship some produts to this parts warehouse - will that cause any issues to receive from a HUM location into a non-HUM warehouse? Thank you for your feedback and advice.

Hi Chandra,

It is prerequisiste that you must clear stock in the storage Location that you are using as Warehouse Management.

Even in the interim storage types there should not be any stock available. You can do these by moving all HUs to Non WM storage location by executing transaction HUMO--> Edit --> Change HU POsting --> Storage Location

(Only HUs that have Object Key = 12 will be successfully moved & remaining HUs that are assigned to any object will have to be fully processed e.g if it is assigned to any outbound delivery than you will have to PGI it or if is assigned to Inbound Delivery you will have to completet the Putaway & Post Goods Receipt...etc)

Once you have cleared all your stocks from the warehouse managed storage location than you should unset the indicator of HU required in table V_T001L_L.

Answering to your Question of Goods mvt frm HU loc to Non HU Loc....... Yes you can do that but it will create confusion for users & customer in case system is showing an HU in your strg location but physically it is NOT Traceable .... & so on....

So when you will be doing ggods receipt of HU into Non HU Location you must first decide for the customer that they will not maintain HUs & free Materials at one time. This can be scenario if you have a common matrl that is in HU & also in Without HU will again result into inconsistencies.& Finally reconcillation of Stock at the end of financail yr will put you in trouble.
