Sandbox Portal failure to start

I'm new to SAP. What are the common reasons STARTSAP fails to start on the Portal server? Thank you.

Is this a new installation? Did you copy the system?

Check in the work directory /usr/sap/<SID>/JC00/work for bootstrap errors.

Is this the initial start during the installation failing? Did you reboot? Please give as much information as possible.

Any particular file in /work?

[markus_doehr2]

check the latest files (sort them by date).
