Production server and DR server on Different OS

Hi,

I have my Production server on Sun solaris Sprac-64 bit and oracle 10.2.0.2.

We are planning to have a DR on Windows and Oracle 10.2.0.2.

Is this possible???

Hi

No. You can not change the platform of OS while using oracle as a database.

Archivelog should not be apply on other system

Since Solaris SPARC is a BigEndian platform and Windows is LittleEndian you will not be able to apply the archive logs from the SPARC machine on the Windows machine.

In my view, DR setup should be identical. Technically you can build test server by hetro system copy.
