Editing a smartform in non-original lang.

Hello All,

Could you please tell me how a smartform works when we edit it in a language which is not its original language?

If i change the original Lang from RU to EN(in the pop up), the changes I make in EN are not getting reflected in RU.

And also, if i change it back to the original language RU and do some more changes in EN(with manintain original Lang option), the changes are reflecting only in RU and not in EN!!!

Hi Sujitha,

1) Copy the driver program into zprogram 2) download the form and upload into zfom and do the necessary changes. I did in the same way . Then make the necessary changes in the lay out what and all you required.

FYI - there is a separate forum for the Forms questions.

Are you by any chance confusing Smart Form with a SAP Script? "Original language" is a SAPScript concept, I don't recall it in Smart Forms. To handle different languages in a Smart Form, use the standard translation functionality. In SAPScript, certain items (like page layout, I think) must always be maintained in the original language.

Hi Jelena,

It is not a SAP Script. When we create a smartform in Russian and try to edit it in English, there will be a pop up for maintaining original language and changing the same. If we edit a smartform by giving " Change original Language" say to English, the changes we do are not reflecting in Russian.

Well I understood that you have created your smartform in English language using login language in English.. now you are try to modify the same smartform log in language Russian. now the system is prompting you "Change original Language" , and you click yes on pop-up and expecting the smartform to be displayed in Russian language. If my understanding is right? then your expectation is wrong.. as the system automatically cannot translate the english form into russian language.

You need to manually do the translations, as described in the below 2 links.

By following the steps which are stated in the above links you can see the smartform content is Russian language.

Thank you. I got the part of translating a smartform. But is it that when i change the original language from EN to RU (i understood that it will display in EN only), the changes I do in Ru will not reflect in EN??

If I use "maintain original language" and do the changes, it gets reflected.
