Can we do mass change of control indicators of MICs?
We having requirements to updated upper and lower limit for thousands of MIC in insection plans. what
Hi Tom,
The term "mass maintenance" is coined when the change you want to carried out is same for all entries. E.g. activation of inspection 01 to all or selected materials.
Can we do mass change of control indicators of MICs?
Yes you can do. Explore CWBQM transaction code. Through this you will be able to change the control indicators of MICs assigned to inspection plan. But remember the change will be applicable to all MICs. e.g. change of required characteristics to optional.

No other option but to develop BDC or LSMW, as each MIC may have different upper and lower values.

if that MIC is refrence type then I have a solution.
create new version for this MIC with changed control indicator and save. depending upon ur client setting system will ask u whether u want to replace the old version with new.continue. u will get list of all inspection plan group in which this MIC is used. select and do mass change.
or if system don't ask of change then save new MIC go to QS27, give all details and repeat above procedure.
Hi Tom,
Then itu2019s nothing but mass maintenance and very well possible. No need to develop any LSMW or BDC. Follow these steps.
1. Execute CWBQM transaction code
2. In current working area put Q_TSK_000000000010
3. Click on additional select criteria
4. Click on u201CInspection Characteristicu201D tab
5. Below that, mention your MIC code, (ABC1 in your case), version of MIC and plant
6. Then click on u201CInspection Characteristicu201D detail symbol. (Ctrl+F7 is the short key)
7. It will load all the task lists with group numbers which contain this MIC.
8. Click on u201CQuantitative datau201D Tab
9. Here you find Target, Lower and Upper values.
10. Click on Edit ->Select-> Select all and then go to Extras ->Mass change
11. It will open all the fields in editable mode.
12. Select one column. Letu2019s say Lower value column
13. Again click on Edit ->Select-> Select all
14. Then again go to Extras ->Mass change
15. Then system will ask you to put new value
16. Put appropriate value and execute.
17. Similarly repeat this for all quantitative data.

I checked this but it is not working in my case and getting following message:
Non-relevant fields will be initialized
Message no. QP504
Diagnosis
Since you changed the control indicators, there is now data in the characteristic that is no longer compatible with the characteristic.
System Response
The data that is no longer consistent will be reset.
The error you are seeing is probably because you have the MIC linked to a general characteristic. Once linked, you can only make certain changes in the MIC. It is resetting the ctrl ind. according to the GC.
It depends on what changes you are making. If you are changing the spec, change it first in the general. Then create a new version of the characteristic.
FF
u have to craete bdc or lsmw for this
