Planning area initialization issue due to UOM

Hi,

I have a planning area with UOM KM. I am using a process chain with sequence of activities for calculating the dependent requirements of components. The BOM info filled in the planning area and CVC are creaetd by the process chain. When the next step Initialize Planning area executed, system throughs error message that **unit conversion is not possible for component xxxx (KM=>KG)***. Planning area UOM is KM and component UOM is KG.

The same case is working with another planning area with planning area UOM Metric Ton(MT) and component UOM EA.Meter etc without maintaining any alternate unit conversion for MT and EA,Meter etc.

Why the error message is displayed for the first case. Can anyone suggest to overcome this issue.

If the UOM's are in the same dimension, the system internally does the conversion, but if they're in different dimensions, you would need to maintain a conversion in the product master.
