Hi,

<removed_by_moderator>

Do not copy paste, this info is available on the installation guide.

This is how SAP system is designed to work.

Hey thanks for your reply.

Can you tell me what are the consequences of changing path or hiding these folders?

Hiding will not be a problem.

But what you are trying to achieve. If you are thinking from security point of view then there are many other ways to ahcieve that.

The access (security/sharing) should only be given to <sid>adm & SAPService<SID>.

Our security team is telling us to hide or change the path of that folder so that the one who is not authorised is not able to access these folders.

Will this hamper my system?

hi RJ,

You should not change the path of these folders.

You can restrict the shared users in the folder access. So, that only the <SID>adm & administrator have the access of these folder.

Thx Abha for your reply.

Can you tell me why do we share sap folder and under what all scenarios do we share?

Cheers,

RJ

Hi,

Because it was designed that way by SAP.

If you remove the shares, your SAP system will be broken and will not restart.

I guess there is a reason why we share sap folder.

It will be a greate help if ou can tell the reason why it is shared.

Thanks,

SAP uses SAPMNT and SAPLOC as logical paths, its hardcoded to do so... SAP doesnt care in which drive the or physical path the files are located as long as it can find them using the logical path/mount.

hence <drive>:\usr\sap its required to be shared as sapmnt and saploc.
