Hello All,
As of now, there is a 12 character limit on the number of characters an SAP user name can have.
Will there be any change in this in the future? Are there a technical restrictions?
Hello -
In addition to the information already provided please be aware that according to SAP note # 18679 there appears to be a problem in some releases if the hostname is longer than 8 characters.
Regards.

Hi,
I dont think so SAP will gonna decrease the length for bname field... but on the safer side you can have always shorter IDs for your SAP system as a part of username strategy...
e.g. Sagar Bhosale... can be sagarb01... or so on.. !
Helpful SAPnotes..
Note 993791 - import user Problem - User Name Max length should be 12
Note 855616 - Email notification fails when the username exceeds 10 chars
