SU25 question(s)

If we were not to take SAPu2019s changes when using SU25, do you see any issues following GoLive?

I think that since we only make role changes in the development system and then transport them forward, should an issue arise (from not taking SAP changes), that all we would need to do is to make the requisite change in DEV and then transport it forward, which is Our normal process.

Can we just run SU25 in DEV and just not take the recommendations?. That way there is no update to authorization objects, no role changes, thus nothing to transport or manually do in a downstream client re: SU25.

Do you guys know or see any issues with this process?

Hi Joe,

please keep in mind, that with the upgrade new authority-checks may be delivered or existent might have chagned. Therefore not conidering the delivered proposals is a risk. You need to test your processes, if they still work after upgrade with your old roles. In my opinion you won't save too much time in bypassing su25, as the claims form your users afterwards (missing auths, process does not work anymore, etc) might keep you busy....

Hi Joe,

Yes we have to run the SU25 steps (Post Upgrade Steps) in Dev system. Check out the affected roles and take necessary action and then transport the changed further for testing etc.

SU25 steps take you the process of new authorization checks which are included in your new system. There are many new authorization checks which you cannot avoid. For e.g SM59 tcode this Tcode checks for new authorization checks in ECC6 system and will not work if you have not corrected your roles with new suthorization checks. Hence to ensure smooth testing and no hard stops arise you need to ensure that Roles are corrected before hand.

Btw whats the version upgrade you are working in??

thus nothing to transport or manually do in a downstream client re: SU25.

Note that what SAP delivers in SU22 is generally only included in SP's and release upgrades and is a collective improvement to everything which all customers have reported to SAP to be meaningful proposals or removing excessive ones.

If you do not make use of this, you will have much more manual work to do yourself in "downstream clients" and will be transporting more corrections in between than what you will have to after the upgrade tasks.

I can only recommend using SU24 to build roles from proposals and SU25 to upgrade the proposals.

Note: If you have made your own adjustments to the standard proposals in SU24, then please be carefull of the button in su25 step 2B called "SAP File". This does a mass acceptance of SAP's proposals, so will wipe out your changes to the standard proposals.

Cheers,
