Hi All,

I have a Proxy to File scenario executing the scenario, the csv file is getting created at FTP.I am using content conversion in receiver channel to create the csv file.when I open the file as Excel sheet, special character "þÿ" comes in the first cell of the excel sheet. For Example: If the first cell vale is "RecordData" then it will come as "þÿRecordData".But when I open the csv file as notepad, the special character does appear in that.

Can anyone please help me on this that why special characters are getting appended in the first cell of the excel sheet.

Thanks,

This is a byte order mark (BOM) which is obligatory in UTF-16.

It seems that Excel has a problem to interpret this correctly.

You could try to set charset as UTF-16BE

Thanks for your input, I will try that encoding.Just to correct when I open the output file with notepad, special charcters does NOT appear in that.BTW : in input proxy, the data is coming in Italian language, that's why I was using UTF-16 encoding. So that the Italian language data populates properly in output csv file.

check wikipedia for details:

I have the impression that you just choose any encoding that suits you.

But you have to ask the project lead what encoding is expected.

You cannot do just what you want.

UTF-16 is very odd and I give a 90% chance that this is not expected.
