I have faced this error sometimes most of them happend because I was using a wrong version of Java, please verify your version with Java -version, also be sure that enviroment variable JAVA_HOME is properly set. If you wan't to know the supported Java versions go to service.sap.com/pam

Some other times the problem was that a the gui was working and quit so the process did not die and give me an error similar to yours.

Good Luck,

Hello again,

just a clarification on above note:

it basically says, that the path to the software packages/DVD

should be entered manually, like C:\DVD1\ instead of

using the browse button.

Hope this help.

Hello,

the solution is in SAP note 808866. I will copy the

relevant part of the note below:

"

SAPinst GUI crashes: "guiengine:no GUI connected"

Symptom:

You are browsing for a software package or file during the dialog phase

of the installation. Doing this, SAPinst GUI crashes with the error

message: "guiengine: no GUI connected; waiting for a connection on host

<host_name> port 21212 to continue with the installation"

Solution:

You reconnect with the GUI to SAPinst and enter the path to the software

package or file manually. Then you can continue with the installation.

"

Kind regards,

Andreas

Hi Benu,

This may be happening because the installation gui has not been started.Read how to start gui for installation in the installation guide.
