Hi Experts,
I want to configure helpdesk on SAP solution manager.
What is pre-requisite for that?
is it need both the ABAP+JAVA?
We are planned to install only abap stack for installing solution manager.
Thanks in advanced.

Hi Hemant,
The Service Desk scenario does not use the Java stack; even the work center uses WebDynpro ABAP and not WebDynpro Java (a common misconception). If you want to do full-text searches of your helpdesk tickets (e.g. find all tickets that contain the phrase "cannot log in") then you will need a TREX instance.
However, you should be aware that the standard SolMan installation includes a Java stack and if I were you I would not try to disable it. Someday you will want to use Root Cause Analysis, Diagnostics, EWA for Java, Maintenance Optimizer, or at least feed in your Java landscape information via SLD and at that point, you will wish you had a Java stack. You should do a standard installation including ABAP+Java and if you aren't using the Java stack you can ignore it for now (but please do patch it whenever you apply a support package stack to keep it in synch with the ABAP stack).
