Processing types in WE42 - inbound idoc process code setup

Hello,

can you please help me understand differences (advantages / disadvantages) in different options of process code setup?

1) ALE options

processing with ALE service

processing without ALE service

2) Processing type

processing by task

processing by function module

processing by process

I'd be looking mainly for performance related advantages.
