Hello all,
we want to establish Oracle standby server for existing SAP installation. New server is installed and Oracle on it too. OS platform is Microsoft Windows 2008, Oracle version 10.2.0.4.0. I was looking for how to set up Oracle standby, but I was confused - there are many of different instructions. Can somebody tell me, what is necessary to set on primary and standby server to work? I prefer clear and simple instructions :-).
Thanks
Vaclav
Hi Vaclav,
At the first stage, you should decide to select which strategy is suitable, for your specific needs. There are two options; switchover or failover strategy. Switchover is little bit hard to configure than failover data guard installation, but more effective. Under this circumstance, I recommend you choose switchover strategy in your SAP landscape.
After you determined the correct scenario for your needs, then you can start the configuration.
