webdynpro java initial setup related

Hi,

We are in the initial stages of a project.

The BASIS people provided by customer is new to Portal related activities(Wed dynpro Java) ,NWDI, SLD.

He has installed SAP EP Core components and NWDI.

UsageTypesInfo returns the following result :

NetWeaver AS AS Java Application Server Java

NetWeaver DI DI Development Infrastructure

NetWeaver EPC EP Core Enterprise Portal Core Components

My query is :

where to find NWDI location ?

He claims that local SLD is configured. But based on requirement, WDJ needs to connect to R/3. Is connection to central SLD required? how to configure SLD with NWDI? why is it required?

what kind of other configuration required?

where to find NWDI location ?

The best place to start is http://<server>:<port>/devinf there you will find the SLD CMS CBS DTR and the information related to Nwdi.

SLD is required to create the component which should be further added to your track in the DTR in which you will develop the custom projects, DCs and what not. The dependencies which is required at run time will be assigned to this component so that it will be available at run time. Thats why SLD is required.

To configure SLD go to http://<server>:<port>/sld go to administrative tasks and initial settings and there you can configure SLD.

what kind of other configuration required?

You will require the DTR to be configured, Track to configured and dependencies to be assigned in general.

Hi Prabhu,

You need to setup for NWDI in http://HOST:PORT/nwa

SLD is required for the NWDI for the software component dependancy for successful excecution for the applicaitons.

Login to NWDI using http://HOST:PORT/devinf

Refer to help.sap.com for detail information setup. search for NWDI administration.
