BoM planning in APO

Hi,

There is a header material A which is being planned in APO and it's components B and C are planned in R/3. In APO, planning engine runs for the header demand and plans for it but am wondering, how will the dependents B and C get the demand . The dependents are planned in R/3

BoM is maintained for A in R/3 and in APO ,the PDS of A has only one component in it which is A

Hi,

Whenever planned order gets cretaed in APO, this will be transferred to R3( provided didtribution definition is defined) . In R3 whenever planned orders is created correspodingly dependent demnads gets created for the lower level material.

If you run MRP at plant level , since dep demand is there system will create either planned order or Purchse requisition depending on the Procurement type for the lower level material.

Hi SS

The MRP type of such Materials is X0, which means externally planned but BOM explosion in R3. After the planning engine creates the Planned orders for the header material and is transferred to R3 . The MRP is also made to run for this header material , which would not create any new receipts but just explode the BOM and create dependant demand/requirement for the components.
