is it possible ? : Webdynpro java without SAP EP

Hi,

I have an unique requirement.

My customer is new to SAP EP / Java Webdynpro.

He requires Webdynpro components to run without SAP EP.

In other words, he wants create an ALIAS for Webdynpro component URL which is displayed when we run the component from NWDS and to publish the url in web page.

Even I am not sure whether Webdynpro will work without SAP EP?

He don't want any SAP EP features such as authentication / role assignment etc.

Kindly let me know is it possible to run Webdynpro java without SAP EP? how?

Hi,

You have to install SAP Netweaver Application server to run Webdynpro Java Applications, for Webdynpro ABAP no need.

Thanks for the response.

I would require to communicate with SAP R/3 thru BAPI and display data in my WDJ application.

Is this is possible with WDJ without SAP EP? I remember we do some config to connect to R/3 in SAP EP.

Where do we do these config if in case , if we dont use SAP EP?

Also we store some data in R/3.

Hi Prabhu,

All those configuration we do in NWDS and that doesn't require the EP for sure. You can configure R/3 Here windows->preference->R/3 Configuration.

Hi Prabhu,

You need not to have the NWDI necessarily. NWDI is only for distributed application development, automated deployment, source code versioning and build (DTR, CBS). But its always a good idea to use NWDI if available.

When you deploy the application, you get a URL, you just need to use that URL for running the app.

Yes thats possible and easy to do task using the plugs for navigation between views and inter DC communication using public part and interface controller. infect we did it in one of your project. Please let us know if you face any issue.
