SAP SD: Define print parameters

Hello,

Under SPRO > SD > Basic Functions > Output Control you can define print parameters.

I can for example define print parameters for condition type order conf. BA00 in combination for a specific sales organisation.

Where exactly are these settings used?

Because if I want to have my BA00 printed out on a specific printer I do this through the conditon records in VV12.

What is the relation between these two setting or isn't there any relation at all?

Thanks.

Hello Marie

I think print parameter is additional functionality and it works like this, suppose no printer has been maintained in the output master data. Then using the settings in Print parameter set up you may print same output on different printers for different sales orgs or sales offices for example. And it makes more sense if these fields (e.g., sales Office) is not there in the access fields.

Please take a look at 1461071 - User defined printer not populating output type in SD, which explains the concept in an oblique way.

Yes both are related.

Output condition type BA00 is part of config and TCode VV11/VV12/VV13 are master data for BA00.

For understanding refer the following link :

[Output Determination|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPLO/outputdeterminationusingconditiontechnique]

Hope this can assist you in understanding.

Thanks & Regards

Hello Jyoti,

Thanks for your reply but it does not really answer my question.

When I create output condition records with VV11 the print parameters for a sales org defined in config such as output device, suffix, flag for print automatically, are not copied as a default into the condition record under tab communication.

Therefore I want to know what the settings in define print parameters are used for?

Thanks.

Hi,

The printer name and print parameters mainatained in the T.Code "VP01" will not appear automatically in Condition records under communication. These are for determining the printer name if nothing is mainatined in condition records.

Always, there will be priority for the print parameters maintained in condition records over the ones mainatined in configuration.Because these condition records were determined based on the condition tableswhich may have different printer names.I have tried here with different printer names at each level and I got the priority for condition record value. If nothing is mainatined in condition records, the data in the output is getting determined from the values maintained in configuration.

Regards,

Krishna.
