movement type configuration and account determination

Hi Experts,

Is movement type config SD responsibility?

Should it be MM?

How is movement type important for account determination?

Where to configure it? From SD point of view, can i say just configure in Material master?

See, movement type (Tcode OMJJ) is purely, MM consultant work area.

But, knowledge of that is desirable.

Material with Accounting Tab is important, where based on your material type you assign valuation class.

Then this valuation class is is assigned to a GL under the transaction by using Tcode OBYC (RMK-Materials Management postings (MM)). For sales its GBB-Offsetting entry for inventory posting with Account Modification VKA, VAX & VAY.

This is maintain in Account group section of M Type.

Movement types configuration is part of MM (most of time no need to configure new as standards are enough)

How is movement type important for account determination?

Movement type are not considered for account determination in SD

Account determination is carried out in VKOA

Where to configure it? From SD point of view, can i say just configure in Material master?
