Connect Mode for FTP Sender

Dear all,

We have options for Connect mode as Permanently & Per file transfer, When we connect to FTP site, which is the best one to choose according to best practice?

Use per file transfer. per file transfer open connection when the files are present in source directory. Once the files are transferred the connection will be closed.

It will open the connection again according to the polling interval mentioned. use polling interval as 300 seconds.

Never use permanent, suppose if you create 100 ftp channels with permanent connection, there will be always 100 open connections to ftp server, which will affect the FTP server badly....

If you have large number of small files to be retrieved, "permanently" mode reduces the overhead caused by creating a new connection.

However, this will keep the connection open until the next polling. So, if you have polling each 1 hour, the connection will be held open. SAP recommends the "per file transfer" usage.
