Issue got solved. <sid>adm had no permission for /etc/hosts file. thanks all.

Hello,

I had the same problem with a different solution.  Our system had a separate ASCS (ABAP SAP Central Services Instance) on a different virtual server from the main dialog server.   In order to get this to work, we had to place an entry in the /etc/services file of the host with the ASCS, that referenced the server that was running the EHPI software (main dialog server).  Once we did that, SM51 shows the correct virtual host name in SM51 for the primary dialog instance.

Login in the system & check the exact job log.

You are in preparation phase & nothing to worry. Just check the proper logs.

Hi juan and Rajaneesh,

the hosts file entry is as follows.

10.10.10.10 host.domain.com hostname

The job is in scheduled status. It is not running.

Former Member

Check the job for the particular time when upgrade process was running.

OR you can repeat the phase & check the latest entry.

Rajneesh

Hi Rajaneesh,

we had two entries in hosts file. we deleted one entry and restarted the server and process. still the same problem persists.

we already followed that thread.

Mainly your RFC is failing that is why the job is not able to run.

Please try to run the job manaually & check if it succeeds,

Hi,

Please check SAP note 946135.

Thanks

Hi Sunny,

this note describes, the error in job RSUPDTEC creates incorrect entries in IAORA. but in our case, the job is not running, its in scheduled status. If i run job manually, the job is running successfully. so there is no inconsistenency in table space.

Hi,

Is there any error in SM21 or ST22 corresponding to this job ?

Thanks

Sunny

hi Sunny,

no error either in SM21 or ST22.

I think you should try to restart the upgrade process again.

just rename the current upgrade folder & start from fresh. It will hardly take few minutes to reach that state again.

That might save your time & reply in case again you are facing the same issue.

Hi Rajaneesh,

Sorry to mention this late. Actually i have reset the installation buffer and deleted EHPI folder. I ran new EHPI twice. but i am facing the same error. I reset the buffer as follows.

cd /sapmnt/<SYSID>/EHPI/abap/bin

./SAPehpi reset prepare.

then deleted EHPI folder. I freshly uncarred the EHPI tool and started the process.

I am not understanding why i am getting this error. please help me.

thanks a ton in advance.

Just 1 try - please restart you SAP instance once & check if you are able to proceed.

Its very difficult to provide solution without logging into the system

Hope you have already raised OSS message.
