Placement Strategy for Drive-In Rack

Dear Guru,

What is the suitable Stock Placement Strategy for Drive-In Rack (25 pallets per storage bin : Depth 5 pallets x Height 5 pallets) ? I mean the first pallet is placed to Drive-In rack is the last pallet to retrieval. I'm uncertain what the best placement and removal strategy to dealing with batches and shelf life expiry dates - FEFO.

Any ideas please advise.

Hi,

Suggestion 1: To use "P" (Strategy for Pallet) for putaway and "L" (LIFO) for removal. This will serve the purpose of "first pallet is placed to Drive-In rack is the last pallet to retrieval" but not sure on SLED part can be taken care on removal. In some case these two requirements may conflict (last in but having later SLED).

2: Putaway strategy "B" bulk and removal strategy "F" (FIFO)

While putaway you can stack the pallets as putaway and while removing user can select the first accessible pallet in the bin for the material and batch. FIFO removal will serve the purpose for SLED.
