Dear Collegues
I am going to install ERP and Solution Manager in the same machine (VM) Windows 2008 64 bit). This is going to be a sandpit system with very few users, but need to be not too slow as presentations will be made on it.
Do I need to seperate the installations using disc partitioning?
We have 2 physical discs configured for a RAID-1 with a single array.
I am not sure if partitioning will give any benefits. If it will then which of the below options will be the most suitable.
C: OS and the SAP systems (ERP & Solman)
😧 ERP DATA
E: Solman DATA
OR
C: OS
😧 ERP system+ DATA
E: SOLMAN + DATA
OR
C: OS
😧 ERP system
E: ERP DATA
F: SOLMAN
G: SOLMAN DATA
Thank you
Haik
I've installed Solman and ECC on the same physical box. This was a Sandbox setup of course not for any production use. Again, this is never recommended, but for testing it should be ok.
What kind of DB are you using?
How big are the Hard drives?
Never combine SAP and OS together. Leave Windows (C:\) alone, you should be able to set this up with just 20-25GB partition.
You should be ok with:
C: OS
D: SAP (/usr/sap/<solman_sid> and <ecc_sid>). This partition is very small.
E: ERP Data (DB files)
F: SOLMAM Data (DB files)
My setup included the following, and it works great. Windows 2K8, MaxDB.
RAID 5 (5x 75gb) @ 340GB total. I had 3 Virtual Drives (40GB OS, 175 ECC, 125 Solman)
C: OS
D: ECC Data
E: Solman Data + SAP systems
I did put /usr/sap/SIDs on the E:\ dive.
