Why downloading SAPGUI is so painful?

Former Member

Have been trying to get SAPGUI 7.2 on Linux/Ubuntu. All other software to start download were installed correctly. When it came to SAPGUI, I am struggling to get the copy from SMP.

Download manager gives following error:

Opening connection to 'https://smpdla.sap.com:443/00000367/969/PlatinGUI720Linux_5-10006060.JAR?object_id=012002523100004394782011D&filepath=00000367%5c969%5cPlatinGUI720Linux_5-10006060%2eJAR&uid=S0001396776&LOC=FRA'

Process of getting download should not be so painful and time consuming.

What do you think? Any easier options or suggestions how can I get this downloaded?

Hello,

your problem is likely the missing the permission to download the installer, please refer to https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1037574

Rolf-Martin,

Thank you for your response.

You are right, but I downloaded 7.20 GUI for windows 6 months back. I don't know what changed since then. Of course, SAP can make GUI easily available. It is like browser for SAP

Of course, these are my views not necessary that SAP should concur but just a thought.

Alexander,

Thank you for pointing at alternate site, I will try that out over the weekend.

Cheers.

Hello,

since your problem and feedback is related to SAP Marketplace and not specific to SAP GUI, I suggest to post your feedback to the [appropriate forum|/community [original link is broken];. That way, the responsible people have a chance to get aware of it and can hopefully help.

Best regards
