How to decrease the size of a universe

Former Member

hello,

Does anyone knows if the universe holds log data in the universe and where it would do so. We believe that our universe is too big to be able to use the translation manager correctly. When we decrease our universe under the 1 MB the translation manager seems to work. The problem is that we have not easy of decreasing the size of the universe even when deleting classes and tables the size remains standard quit long. So we think the universe memorises log data or other data which makes him so stay big even when deleting the content that is visible like classes, ilinks between tables, contexts, ...

Many thanks for your input

Hello,

We finally managed to solve this problem we thougt it was the size that was the problem but there was a bug in the Translation Manager version XI 3.0. This is what SAP answered to us as a response to our initial message of receiving an error message: UTM 20060.

As per the testing I am able to import the Universe in Translation manager as well as in Designer in BO XI 3.1 SP3 FP 3.4.

This was the known issue with the BO edge and Enterprise versions, however this issue get resolved in SBOP Edge BI 3.1 Fix Pack 2.1 and Enterprise XI 3.1 FixPack 2.5 respectively for Edge and Enterprise series.

BO Enterprise XI 3.1 FixPack 2.5 is equivalent to SBOP Edge BI 3.1 Fix Pack 2.1.

Please refer the SAP notes for the details:

Note 1461356 - SBOP Edge BI 3.1 Fix Pack 2.1 Release Notes

Note 1436921 - XI 3.1 FixPack 2.5 Fixed Issues List

Description:

UTM 20060 error appears while importing a universe in Translation Manager

Hello Praveen,

This indeed reduces the size of the universe but only by 1 KB. We still have 1,213 MB which is too much for the translation manager to cope with. We need to get under the 1 MB we believe.

Hope someone can still help us on this one.

cheers Thierry

Hai,

Please remove the duplecate rows:

the parameter definitions are part of the universe file itself (.UNV), it is necessary to manually delete all the duplicated occurrences from the universe:

  • open the universe.

  • select File > Parameters and select the Parameters tab.

  • select each duplicated parameter and press Remove, one at a time, making sure to leave only one occurrence of each.

  • save the universe and re-Export it.

To resolve this issue, we need to manually delete the duplicate entries, but:

We cannot select multiple entries to delete.

We cannot use the 'Delete' button on the keyboard.

There is no config file that can be altered.

All the best,

Praveen
