Rate Category no longer in use

Hi Experts,

A Rate Category say X should no longer be used for billing as from 01 January 2011.

I have changed its Facts, Rate Determination and Price valid to to 31.12.2010.

But when I change the rate category of an installation as at say 01.03.2011 to X, no error messages appears. The change is saved.

How can I make the Rate Category no longer valid?

If you want to delete rate category, use transaction EA54. However, you cannot delete the rate category that is in used.

You can use the where-used list in the transaction to see any installation that use this rate category then change it to other rate cateroty.

Changing the rate determination end date (to date) will serve the puspose of killing the rate category.

But, it will not stop you to put any customer/installation on this rate category though during Billing, it fail.

Standard SAP does not have any functionality to stop you from maintaining this rate category at installation.
