line of business field

could u please clarify about line of business.where this field comes in standard sap system and what is the effect of this;

As far as I know,it is business area, you can find it via going to spro, path:Sales and distribution/basic function/account assignment/business area by sales area,then you can see combination between business area and sales organization/distribution channel/division.
