item category determination for make to order item

Hi experts,

how can I determine item category(tak) for make-to-order. mean what should I put in ITEM CAT.GRP, USAGE AND HIGHER LEVEL ITEM CATEGORY GROUP. Please advice.

Neel,

Goto VOV4 and create new entry with

your sales doc type + itm cat group + usage + higher leve item cat = TAK

Just check your item cat group in material. If you have created TAK without copy then also check your SL assignment with VOV5.

If you have not changed standard customization, then you can determine this also via strategy group definition in material master (MRP view), for example "20" (MTO).

Hi,

You have to give Sales Order type and Item category group which is to be maintained in your material master and leave uasage and Higher level item category as blank.

You can also maintain values for Manual Item category as per your business requirement.

itm cat will detemine with sales doc type + itm cat group + usage + higher leve item cat

Give your sales order type + item cat group in your material master + useage blank and higer level itm cat - blan = TAK.

then try to create order, it will determine itm cat TAK.
