SP level on Server

hi all respected experts,

I am observing that something are going wrong on PRD system. like , some users are saying that system is running slow mean standard tcode and report.

fyi....Project was implemented here before 3 years while its patches and SP are same when system was installed and only SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA applied on level 14 remaining are same...

now Please guide me that i have to upgrade all patches OR specific patches and speed of those slow tcode and reports will be fine after upgrade the SP and paches.

General question - only general answer possible:

Check the usual:

ST03N (dialog response time)

ST06 (swapping)

talk to users which selection criteria they use and run the program through SE30 to see where the time is getting lost

This looks all quite normal.

I'd point this now either

- selection issue - user is selecting too much data (use ST05 to check)

- database statistics out-of-date/not reflecting the table entries (schedule an update statistics)

Actually I normally update the db statistics from brtools/DB13 but date in DB20 still shows old.

Yes, I have seen some immature users giving wrong selection criteria. Should we discuss with them to define range as required??

SAP kernal of the system is too old SAP_APPL (146) & others remaining SPs? should i update it, will it help in optimizing the speed?

Updating your system is a good idea, as the SP14 was released on 01/2208. You can find the latest version available in the following website:

http://service.sap.com/sp-stacks

Also, ensure that you have the latest SBP as per note [1137346|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1137346] and parameters as per note [830576|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/830576].

hi Eduardo,

thx for reply and suggest for updating.

one thing which i want to confirm from someone that is.. the PRD server hve to instances (DB server and Application server). PRD APP server sometime stuck when user click on any tab or want to execute the tcode/standard reports then all processes went running state for 1 to 2 seconds in SM50 after that SM50 status went normal state. what is the reason (buffering issue or old SP/Patches)?

And the check the performance
