Hi,
We have stumbled on a problem when setting up routing..
For a tester operation (TST) we have several resources (TST001,TST002,TST003,TST004,TST005).
Product A can use just resource TST001 in operation TST
Product B can use either TST001 or TST002 or TST003
Product C can use any of the 5 resources TST001 or TST002 or TST003 or TST004 or TST005
Product D can use either TST001 or TST004 or TST005.
We first thought of creating a lot of work centers and entering the correct Work center in the routing step
properties for each product. However one work center seems to only be able to be part of one parent work center.
Any ideas how this can be solved? The reason why we want to do this is just informational purposes, so the operator
knows which alternatives is available for each product.
Br,
Johan Nordebrink
Hello Johan,
If it is needed for informational purposes only, you may set up a Work Instruction at that Opeartion. So, operator will be informed on alternatives.

Alex.

Hi Alex,
Unfortunately that is not an option since the information is different depending on the product.
In my example there was just a few products but in real life it could be that 2000 products go through
the same operation.
We can not use the "Special instructions" field since there we want to write other important operator messages.
Is our only other choice to use a custom data field for a routing step?
Br,
Johan
Work Instructions can be attached to a Material AND an Operation. This would give you the ability to define unique work instructions for your product and operation.
