Oracle 10.2 on Windows 2008R2 64bit

Hello,

I obtained IDES installation DVDs from SAP. I wanted to start installation, so first step was Oracle database. The problem is that SAP gave me DVD from 2006 with Oracle 10.2. There are three architectures available and noone wants to cooperate with my Windows. How to resolve this?

My CPU / architecture:

- Inter Xeon X3440 2.53GHz / Windows 2008 R2 Standard 64bit

Installation DVDs:

- 51031678 - Oracle 10.2 RDBMS

- 51036971 - Oracle 10.2 RDBMS Patch 10.2.0.4

- 51036975 - Oracle 10.2.0.4 Failsafe Server 3.4.1.5

- 51031687 - Oracle 10.2 64bit Documentation Library

- 51039412 - Oracle 10.2.0.4 Client V5

I tried 51031678 - Oracle 10.2 RDBMS but always I've got this error:

Checking operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2 . Actual 6.1

Any clues? I think I need Oracle 10.2.0.4 but how to get it? Should I install Failsafe server or what?

thanks in advance

You may want to check supported combinations in pam [http://service.sap.com/pam]

Should I install Failsafe server or what?

I dont think you need to go for failsafe installation for IDES.

Hi,

Please, read remarks in PAM:

For server 2008:

Product Availability Matrix

Comments

Only SAP products based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 and higher are supported to run on Windows Server 2008.

At least Oracle version 10.2.0.4 required.

Oracle Enterprise Edition only

For server 2008 R2:

At least Oracle Patchset 10.2.0.5 required.

Oracle Enterprise Edition only

Aleh

Already saw it.

Is there any way to install Oracle 10.2 with path 10.2.0.5? Because I can't start just 10.2 installation.

Hi,

OK, as I see it you need the installer at least 10.2.0.4 which will allow you to install the software on the server.

setup.exe - ignoreprereq

or

Check https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1486772 for details:

Oracle 10g:

To install the Oracle 10.2.0.4 database software, use the RDBMS DVD #51036975 (ORACLE 10.2.0.4 Failsafe Server 3.4.1.5, this DVD includes the database and the Failsafe component).

Copy the sapserver.zip file attached to this note.

Unpack sapserver.cmd and replace sapserver.cmd in the following directory:

<work directory>:\NT\AMD64

Install the database server software 10.2.0.4 as documented with sapserver.cmd.

Before you install the SAP system, install patch set 10.2.0.5.

Before you install the SAP system, apply the latest patch collection according to SAP notes 839182 and 1431752.

HA system: Use Oracle Failsafe 3.4.2, which is available on the Oracle 11 DVD (# 51038964). As of OFS 3.4.2, the Oracle Failsafe Client is also available on 64-Bit and no longer needs to be installed from the 32-Bit DVDs.

Make sure that you use the modified kernel DVD (or combined installation master/kernel DVD for CE) (see above).

Best Regards,

Aleh

Hi,

Try using the 10.2.0.4 patch installer and point it at the 10G software, see how you get on
