Hi all,
I am trying to printout labels on Zebra QL 420 plus mobile printer, but I can't get any result. Since I have to printout in WM environment, I can't use smartforms, only sapscripts. With other Zebra printers, it was done very easily using Zebra Designer, but in this case it does'nt work (no printout nor using ZSWIN, neither HPLJ4 and Zebra driver does not supports Sapscripts).
Do anyone can help me?
Thanks
Hi,
it seems that this printer does not support ZPL2.
You should be able to print via a windows device type like SAPWIN. With your printer connected to a Windows system, you
can use the device type SAPWIN with Access Method S or G which will utilise the Windows printer driver.
You can use Access Method S if the printer is connected to a Windows print server running SAPSprint.(Note #894444) You use Access Method G if the printer is defined in the Windows Print manager of the Frontend user's PC.
This method utilises the windows printer driver for this Zebra QL 420 Plus printer. However, with this method, you will need to install a barcode dll on the windows system to enable you to print barcodes.(see SAP note #14561)

Aidan

Hello
You must use the method described in the Notes:
179534 - Label printing with Zebra printers
135894 - Label printing on thermal (transfer) printers
The main problem with label printers is that these printers need a
printer language which is not supported by the SAP system as per
attached 135894.
Label printers all use various unique printer languages so you must use
third party software and ASCII type device type. The method described
in Notes 179534 and 135894 are a workaround method to print to Zebra
label printers from Sapscript.
This method should work with either Accesss Method L or U. The device
types LB_ZEB or LB_ZEB2 should be used.
All print data including all printer sequences are created by an
external program and uploaded into the R/3 system. As per Note #179534
this can be done with Zebra's design program BAR-ONE.
SAP only replaces the symbols and besides that it sends the print data
to the printer which was uploaded. The device types LB_ZEB or LB_ZEB2
are based on an ASCII device type so very little is maintained in the
print controls.
Basically you design the label with the BAR-ONE software and upload the
file to a standard text via transaction so10. Then the text is copied to
the MAIN window of your SAPSCRIPT form.

Hi Kenneth, thank you for your answer, but those notes are not applicable to this QL420Plus printer.
In fact, we do apply the method as described in notes you are quoting to others Zebra Printers, but it does not work for mobile printers.
We have produced labels with Zebra designer for MySap v2, but this software does not support this specific model and labels are unreadable once uploaded into sapscript.
It seems that ZPL does not fully applies to this printers.
Do you have experience in this matter?
Regards, Fabrizio
