Installation Server SAP GUI

Former Member

Hi! this is my first post in the forum. I 'm heading to install an installation server for SAPGUI. I've set up my server in Windows XP PRO sp3 . The SAP Installation server version is 8.1.0.231. The Administration server tool version is 8.1.0.149.

I've configured Local Security Handling , to deploy SAP components on the network , to make installations without administrative privileges.

My first test was on a workstation XP PRO sp3, logged in with a non-administrator user. The installation result ok, without errors.

Then i tested on Vista Business SP2 , and i've got errors. After a few seconds , appeared this error window:

"NWSAPSETUP failed o register the installation engine and cannot continue . If running on Vista please right click and select "Run as administrator", else please report this problem to SAP"

Here is the NWSAPSETUPLS.LOG file (Vista client) :

I have all my workstations and server with no firewall settings (disabled).

It seems to be a problem with the privileges, but it is strange that worked in my XP client!!

Any suggestions to make it work on Vista ?

Thank you for your time!

Regards.

Hi,

Try to start with option "run as administrator".

Vista is an operational system with "manic security"

Check for additional information about UAC in Vista:

Hi, i've checked the UAC. It did not seem to be the problem.

Here is something strange:

- If i execute "
server\sap gui\Setup\NwSapSetup.exe /Silent /Package="SAP GUI 7.20", then i get this error "NWSAPSETUP"failed o register the installation engine and cannot continue . If running on Vista please right click and select "Run as administrator", else please report this problem to SAP"

- If i double click on "
server\sap gui\Setup\NwSapSetup.exe", then i get the Sap Front End installer dialog box. I can select the pack , and install it .

In both cases, i'm running it with a non-administrative user.

The Administrator User created in the server, es a domain user (NT4 - PDC)

Any other suggestion?

Thanks!

Hi,

Please, check "3.8 Configuring Local Security Handling" in "SAP Front End Installation Guide".
