Problem with Data upload workbench

Hello,

In our scenario, there is no source system. Both Master and transactional data will be loaded thru flat files.

The flat files will be available in BW application server in a defined directory.

Master data :

D:\usr\sap\put\site.csv

D:\usr\sap\put\comp_code.csv

Transactional Data :

D:\usr\sap\put\PO.csv

D:\usr\sap\put\Invoices.csv

In the global settings,The following entries are maintained.

XACURRENCY USD

XAPATH_EXPORT D:\usr\sap\put/

XAPATH_IMPORT D:\usr\sap\put/

XATARGETSERVER CROSS1

i have copied the flat files to D:\usr\sap\put directory on the BW application server.

When i went to perform data upload tasks, the data received tab is empty.

How the system will know, which file to upload for which object ? I know i am missing on some basic understanding / configuration. i am not able to interpret the step by step config for uploading the data using data manager UI.

Any help / pointers will be highly appreciated.

Hi Ravindra

Flat files or BW data sources are just the medium of data transfer.

The source system at a conceptual level is simply the source of your data, that gets tagged into your keys for uniqueness.

So, you do have a source system, which is providing you with the flat file.

Pls create a "New Data Upload" and a Source System.

The files should start showing up after that.

Thanks Rajesh for your response.

I am still not able to sucessfully upload a flat file from Data manager UI.

Steps :

1. Created a flat file ( ZSITE.CSV) and uploaded to /usr/sap/EBI/sys/global/xsa_import directory on the SAP BW Application server.

2. In the Data manager UI, Global settings,

Import folder = /usr/sap/EBI/SYS/global/xsa_import/

Export folder = /usr/sap/EBI/SYS/global/xsa_export/

Application server = Blank ( No value maintained)

3. In the data manager UI, Global settings -> Systems, Created a new

system name = XSA_PCFILE ,

Master data system = XSA_PC_FILE

System id : C1

4. In the data load work bench ->Data upload setup -> Source system setup -> Activated the source system

5. In the data load work bench - > Manage data upload-> Create a new Data upload

Data uplaod ID : Z_SITE

Data uplaod name = Z_Site

Set as active -> Ticked

6. When i goto Perform upload tasks -> Data received tab, I could not see anything. The table is just blank.

Any idea, what i am missing ? Anything wrong with installation ? Any RFC connection (XSA_DEST) missing ?

Is there anyway to reinstall using SSA_Helper program ?

Our releases :

OPMFND : 210 Level 002

ANAXSA : 210 level 0002

ANASCPM : 100 level 0003

BI_CONT : 703 level 0012

Hi Ravi

You seem to have completed most of the spp config steps, so the most likely candidate right now would be inactive webservices.

Suggestions:

1) Make sure all webservices are active.

2) Check the j2ee NW logs for errors and BW connectivity issues

3) Run BI diagnostics tool

4) To rule out issues due to corrupted files, have a single small test file in the import directory (and make sure its not corrupted but opening it in a text pad utility)

Also, your content needs to be upgraded to 704 SP5 and above. 703 content is not supported for the SPM 2.1 release. If you check the SPM BW content (as indicated in the validation step in the install guide), if you are on 703, you will notice that not all content can be activated.

I am in Set Up FTP Folders Phase,

I have doubts about this... I just need to create 2 directories at opertive system level like

Import folder = /usr/sap/EBI/SYS/global/xsa_import/ 

Export folder = /usr/sap/EBI/SYS/global/xsa_export/

Or there is something more with this..because the guide talks about a hosting partner and a service user.

On the other hand ...how I can access to Data manager UI? This has to be download it as a client?

I am starting a SPM 2.1 implementantion.
