Planning in both ECC and APO

Hello All,

We are in the process of implementing SNP for the US business and have a question around planning in ECC and APO.

Can we run SNP Heuristics in APO and MRP in ECC on the same product? We intend to have the MRP type as PD for this

product-location and CIF it across and Plan in SNP. The planned orders from APO would be integrated to ECC. Then the

planners in ECC would delete some of these planned orders and replan the product in ECC.

We intend to use Deployment and TLB in APO and this plant in addition to manufacturing acts as a DC supplying product

to various other DCs across the country.

What are the implications of doing this? Please reply back in detail. Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Venkat

Hi Venkat

It is not recommended to have planning run in ECC & APO for the same product.

If you wish to have planning run in R3, you can set to MRP type to - PD, but then the procurement type will - P (external planning) in APO, so you can not do deployment & TLB runs.

So, to have deployment & TLB runs without Heuristic, you need modify the procurement type to - F / E using CIF product user exit by hardcoding Plant. Then it applies to all products of that location.

Pls ensure that you do not run Heuristic for this plant in APO.

We are following this for few plants in our case. Hope this clarifies.

Thanks

If you set the MRP type as PD in R/3 and CIF it across to APO , you cannot plan the material in APO. To plan material in APO the MRP type has to be X0 (externally planned).

I understand you want to generate the requirments plan for a location that serves 2 purposes - DC and manufacturing plant. My question is why you dont want to do the entire planning process in APO . Maintain resources , PDS and all other master data and generate the manufacturing plan (planned orders) in APO. Also if you maintain proper SPK's at destination branches , when you run heuristics at destinations , you will be able to plan your distribution also. You can then run deployment and TLB.

Thanks
