Hello All,
Please find the description of the issue
It is for initial entry of stock for a HU/WM location
Packaging materials are defined with number assignment SSCC 18 internal at the creation of HU.
HU numbers in the legacy system are in 6 digit series (not SSCC 18)
Is there a possibility to create the HU with legacy number series (6)?? For the same packaging material type?
What are the complications by creating with the external number range series (6 digits)? Further to pick such HU from warehouse we need to scan the 18 digit number as per the controls (may be preceding zeros for the 6 digit number) Will system accept such numbers? Since the barcode on the HU will be for only 6 digits and not the 18 digit (6 digits preceded by zeros).
There are around 10000 HU
Further can someone explain what could be the best thing to do in this case?
Requesting expert opinion
Thanks
Hi Vinod,
thanks for your answer.
You mean to say creating HU with EXIDA(Type of External Handling Unit Identifier) as D or H?? can you clarify?
Further for other movements like picking and putaway i have to scan the 18 digit no either as a input or as a verification field in some of the RF tcodes. Will system accept this range? I assume i have to change the code so that it accepts this range?
Do you see any risk here??
Thanks

I think setting up an external number range for 6 digit HUs coming from Legacy should suffice your requirement. only thing is when you create the stock itself, format the HU number with preceding zeroes and load it in the system. You can do a quick prototyping and check.
Thanks
Vinod Madhanu.
