System Statistics

I ran the db diagnostics report and found that 'System Statistics', not the schema level statistics, had been gathered. None of my colleagues has initiated the activity. How can this be run automatically? I thought this was 'manual' request. Thanks

It's likely that system stats were gathered a while ago. You can see when they were gathered in sys.aux_stats$.

Lauren - so, the Dstart = 01-17-2011 01:21 and Dstop = 01-17-2011 18:21. The report says system statistics gathered 'as of date' is March 10, 2011 7:06:24 AM.

I understand your original post to this answer, thank you. So what does the 'as of date' really mean then?

Hi Kevin,

The "as of" date in the diagnostic report is when the report was run, meaning the information is valid as of that date. If a setting changes, we can use that date to show when the setting was changed, or at least when the report was run after the setting changed. It gives us a way to keep a history of the changes.
