Changing usage type on Rental Object usage type

Why is the usage type for a rental object display only and therefore not changeable?

What do you do if you have a requirement to change the Usage Type?

Hi,

there are customizing settings that depend on the usage type and if the usage type would be changed this could lead to inconsistencies in the master data.

In RE Classic the usage type was changeable though, but in RE-FX it is not supported at all. You have to create a new rental object.

Thanks Franz,

The situation we have is that the client wishes to change the complete "list of values" for the Usage Type (e.g. all usage types 001 will become 9010, 002 will become 9020). So we are not actually changing the usage type, just the usage type identifier,. Does SAP have some kind of mqass change program to rename the list of values?

Thanks

Cliff

Hi Cliff,

just one question, do we speak about RE Classic or RE-FX?

Hi Franz,

We are on RE-FX.

What we are trying to avoid here is having to create 12,000+ new rental objects, and then "delimiting" the 12,000+ existing rental objects with vallidity dates.

Thanks

Cliff

Hi Cliff,

unfortunately I am not aware of such a program. But you would have to identify all tables where the usage type is stored and do a conversion of these tables (or in case of customizing entries change them manually). I would suggest that you get in touch with an experienced SAP consultant who may guide you.
