is there any other requirement which i have to configure for MaxDB because first time i installed SOLMAN with MaxDB mean i just installed Java and SOLMAN 7.

Hello DiyaChopra,

You should increase the size of the database by adding another datafile.

Documentation is available at:

http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/1b/84ef41925b2135e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm

Before you add datafile in database, please check if there is enough space in your filesystem manually.

If there is no space on your file system, check for excessive log files.

Regards,

Paul

dear Paul and Markus,

There is more than 50 GB free space in SAP data directory. while now Solman SID is online in Database Manager and running fine. I hope, there is no need to increase the size of datafile.

when i am trying to start Maxdb service then i am get following error.

service on Local Computer started and then stopped.
Some service stop automatically if they have no work to

dispatcher is stopped due to these service

Your database is not started (it's like Oracle being in 'mount' state) so your system cannot be started.

You have to add another datafile, MaxDB does not increase the size automatically.

Rebooting doesn't solve problems

The problem is clear, the database is full - because of that, it can't be started. A reboot will not change that.

Hi Markus,

Yes, this case reboot doesnt work

and @ Diya.. please add the datafiles and try

Thanks,

Hello DiyaChopra,

This error indicates that you should increase the size of the database by adding another datafile.

As Markus has indicated, the MAX DB does not automatically extended the database, so you need to do this yourself.

Documentation is available at:

http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/1b/84ef41925b2135e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm

You have confirmned there is enough space on the file system to do this (50 GB), so if you want to resolve this error, then you

need to add space to the Database. And should you not know how, is why I have now twice provided the link that will guide you through adding another data file.

Paul

thx Paul and otherfor you replies...

as i wrote in my first post that the dispatcher was stopped during SGEN and when i checked processes in SAPMMC , those were hanged since last 6 hours. the DATA and LOG were showing 100 % used in Database Manager so i took complete backup and now Log is showing 0% used and dispatcher came in running status but Auto Log is still in OFF mode. so problem relates to Log which was OFF in Database Manager . if i want to execute SGEN then first i have to change the Auto Log into Yes mode.

how can i change Auto Log into Yes mode?

Data is still showing 100% used in Database Manager mean now i have to add/ extend the datafile while 50 GB free space in sap data directory?

You don't need to add 50 GB, add e. g. 10 GB.

Your database is full so you have to add space.

hi Dear,

first i assigned the free space to SAP Data directory and executed below command and got following error

dbmcli on SOL>db_addvolume DATA -fd 50
ERR
-24916,ERR_MAXVOLCNT: Maximum number of volumes of type DATA already utilized

DATA column was showing 64% used when i ran db_addvolume DATA -fd 50

first it was showing 100% used.

dbmcli on SOL>db_activate

OK
---
dbmcli on SOL>db_state

---
dbmcli on SOL>db_offline

---
dbmcli on SOL>db_online
OK

would you tell me about Data Column because now 0% used mean where is data, still exist or not?

something is still missing or now ok.?

while dispatcher is still stopped now?
