function modules used in transformation

Hi,

There is no hard and fast rule that you use a specific FM inyour transformation.

We generally go according to the requirement.

Please publish your requirement so that a FM if applicable can be proposed.

i would like to know what backend process happens or programs,function modules which get affected when we save a transformation.i need this information in order to fix an issue.

Hi,

We have the following scenarios:

Transformation is nothing but the data changes you expect when the data is loaded from a source system.

There are three levels where in you use the FM's which you asked:

1) Start Routine

2) End Routine

3) Expert Routine

4) Field level routine.

When ever you take a simple model in BW(Higher than BI 7.0) there will be transformations between source and target.

If you want to transform the data coming from the source to the target ie., if you want to enhance the data in the target you fo for routines which are written in ABAP.

The above mentioned are the different levels of routines.
