text edit length limit

dear all.

We have a text edit UI element. Can we somehow get control while the user is typing in that box? Users want the box to be more intuitive - that is they say they should be able to know how many characters are remaining as they are typing.

But as far as i know, there is no event triggered while users are typing.

Any clues on this please?

Hi Aishi,

You already Suggested that. There is no event to know how many chars remaining while typing. I think you need to explain to your designers or customer that it is not supported by the tool and suggest some other alternative.

I was confirming my understanding. So it seems i cannot get control.

so the only option left is Wd4J or BSP, right, if users insist on this requirement?

Yes. U r rite. In WDA there s event OnEnter but not Onblur OnKeyUP ..... . So it s not possible in WDA. If the user want that requirement u have to go to other alternative.

Yes, BSP is a option but i am not sure WDJ has mouse over event. I think not !!
