SAP 7.20 on Mac OS X 10.6.6 Snow Leopard 64 bit - connection error

Hi everyone,

I work with SAP and I just switched on Mac. I installed SAP GUI 7.20rev1 for Java and I am trying to connect to a SAP server, but I always get this error:

Error: connection to partner '10.106.83.38:3299' broken

Mon Mar 14 23:50:31 2011

Release 720

Component NI (network interface), version 40

rc = -6, module nixxi.cpp, line 4733

Detail NiIRead: P=10.106.83.38:3299; L=192.168.1.146:49736

System Call recv

I have no idea what am I doing wrong. I read a many discussions here on sdn forum and read the installation and configuration manual which is added to 7.20rev1, but still nothing. Could anybody help me pls? I am really new on this and I do not know how to make a step further.

I did a new connection, on advanced tab I checked the Expert settings and used this connection string:

conn=/H/10.106.83.31/S/3299/W/supp0rt/H and it gave me the error which is above.

The data from connection for sap gui for windows are:

Aplication server: 10.106.78.99

SAP router string: /H/10.106.83.31/S/3299/W/supp0rt/H/

system ID: SD8

System number: 00

I tried to ping the IP address 10.106.83.31 and it gave me good response.

May be I am asking like a amateur, but I really do not know what should I do and I need to fix it.

Thanks a lot,

Best Regards,

Michal Nachtman

Hello Michal,

although I do not exactly understand your scenario, I assume that

- you want to use a saprouter with password

- 10.106.78.99 is the app server hostname

- 3200 is the portnumber it is listening to

This would mean you should try

conn=/H/10.106.83.31/S/3299/P/supp0rt/H/10.106.78.99/S/3200

I am not sure if SAP GUI for Java "understands" the /W/, but /P/ for password works.

For details, please refer to chapter 9.1 Technical Background - Connecting Strings of the manual which is installed with SAP GUI for Java.

Best regards

Rolf-Martin
