New SAP ERP 6.0 SR3 / 6.0 EHP 4 installation on ORACLE 11g

Dear All,

SAP now also supports and certifies direct installation based on database release Oracle 11g (Oracle 11.2). We have read the oss note 1478350 but at the url https://service.sap.com/oracle-download there are only patches and not the oracle 11g software for the installation. Also on http://service.sap.com/swdc there isn't the software updated (oracle 11.2) but all the software packages are referred to oracle 10.2. How can we proceed for installing SAP ERP 6.0 SR3 / 6.0 EHP 4 on ORACLE 11g?

Regards

Bob

I will proceed as:

1. Install 10.2 apply PSU from service.sap.com/swdc --> DB Patches 10.2.0.4 download it and apply on top of 10.2

2. Install EHP4 ( make sure to turn on no archive log mode while installing)

3. UPgrade Oracle from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.1, I think 11.2.0.2 is released.

4. Apply the SBU's (SAP Bundle Patches Mandatory) to 11.2 and complete the post upgrade steps on DB Side such as setting up compatibility mode in init parameters, optimum sga and db buffer values, events, removing depricated parameters, relink all etc.

5. Startup SAP and run t-code SICK and do the instance level checks.

Let me know.

Thanks

SM.

Hi Sri,

Why should I install 10.2 and then upgrade when 11.2 is released and already certified? I think that the best way is installing SAP ERP 6.0 SR3 (Linux SLES 11 x86_64 / Oracle 11.2) ENHP4 directly on Oracle 11.2, but the software package that SAP have sent us is old and there isn't a clear way to proceed. Our client is starting to change his mind about the efficiency of SAP.

Hi Dusmanta,

thank you for your tip. I did not think that the installation of SAP was a composition of a puzzle. A puzzle that costs millions of u20AC.

It's incredible.

Bob

Bob,

What OS are you running there? I used the search for software downloads feature in the SWDC using "Oracle 11" as the search string. I received back several hits for the various 11g material numbers.

Here are the material numbers:

AIX: 51038805 and 51040091

HP: 51038804

Linux: 51038809

SOLARIS:51038806

WINDOWS: 51038964

I found them in /swdc -> Database Patches -> Oracle -> a link for the installations DVDs will appear in the content area of the Marketplace frame. Follow the link to what you need.

Cheers,

Tim
