Can SAP ECC6 runs on Windows Workgroup?

Dear Experts,

I have a SAP ECC6 runs on Windows Server 2008 R2 but without running Domain network, just Workgroup only. However, when I tried to connect to the SAP system thru SAPGui from my laptop with following settings, it showed this message "partner sapdp00 not reached

return code -10

error no 10035

error text WSAEWOULDBLOCK: resource temporarily unavailable"

Setting in SAPgui :-

Connection Type : Custom Application Server

Description : ECC6

Application Server : 10.1.1.99

Instance number : 00

System ID : EC6

The rest by default.

In my laptop's "network" window, I could see the server icon.

What would be the problem?

Is the sapdp00 service defined in your laptop's services file?

check c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\drivers\etc\services for

sapdp00 3200/tcp

if not add it to the services file.

I've not built any system with workgroup networking, but I don't see limitations mentioned in the documenataion.

Can you run the gui from the ECC server and does it work then?

Are you sure there is no firewall on either the PC or server preventing access?

Try this from you Laptop Command Prompt

telnet 10.1.1.99 3600

If it is connected that means there is no firewall which is stopping the connection and you would be able to login. But if it's not connected then you have to check the Anti virus/Firewall which might be stopping the connection.
