Can anyone kindly let me know why SAP recommends to use Java 5
This is wrong and there is no such recommendation. SAP NetWeaver Java is Java 6 and Java EE 5, what means e.g. EJB 3.0 and JPA 1.0. Do not mix up Java (SE) 6 (the java runtime) with Java EE 5 (the container...). The Java EE 6 standard is specified, but there is no information when SAP NetWeaver Java will implement this current standard (e.g. EJB 3.1, JPA 2.0...)
Cheers
