STMS problem.

Hi all,

We have configure stms using two different directories. For DEV and QA we have a common transport directory whereas for PRD we have separate directory.

But we are having issues while doing import into PRD system. Please find below. Now the problem is

We have a common transport domain for DEV,QA,PRD and also have a common transport group.

I am not sure that we can have a common transport goup if we have two different transport directory. that may be the reason we are getting below error.

Please help me to understand. Whether we can have common transport group with two different directories and one domain.

Hi NIkhil,

When you use different trans directory for systems, then you can not import the request directly.

You have to adjust the queue so that data files and co files are added and accessible.

There is a sign and button for adjustment, just when you do that you can import it.

There is a program to automate the process fro adjusting that you can use.

Hi Dipesh

Thanks for reply,

Yes, I have unstood

1) Traport group can have two different directory but recommeded is one trans directory.

2) Even if you have two different trans directories for DEV/QA & Prd we can do the transport as it is handle by SAP using RFC.

But still i am not able to find the option for below.

"There is a sign and button for adjustment, just when you do that you can import it. "

I tried below. STMS > Import overview > double click on PRD system > I am into IMPORT Queue

BUT not able to find button for adjustment. Please share how i can find it in stms.

Thanks

yes that is correct a common transport group should have a common transport directory what u can do is that u can manually copy the data and cofiles in prd and import them in prd if u had a common directory i assume u should not have face any problem

like that

@Sunny,

This is not correct. Common transport directories only lead to common transport groups.

@Nikhil,

The situation you want to realize is definitely possible.

However once you release the transport and import into QA and subsequently approve it in QA (provided you have that option) you need to get into production and use the option for adjusting the queue in STMS_IMPORT. Once that is done DATA and CO-FILES would be available in the PROD trans directory and then you can actually carry out the import !

You can also automate this process.

Hi Ruchit,

Please elaborate. What do you mean by "adjusting the queue in STMS_IMPORT". Will the transport request comes in PRD without copying from QA/DEV doing this.

Also regarding trasnport group i have also the same opinion as per SAP Doc that we can have common tranpsort directory for same transport group.

Thanks

Hello Nikhil,

Provided you have set the transport routes correctly when you go to STMS_IMPORT in production you should see an icon for adjusting import queue (Don't know how to describe it but probably looks lightning ). When you click on that data and co files for transports get available in respective directories. Then you can proceed with the imports.I had debugged it once and i reckon it does that using RFC.

Ruchit.

Hi,

It does not matter whether system have same transport directory or not. Transport group will remain same. In my case i have separate transport directory from Dev, QA and PRD. also, all in same transport group.

First check whether all the servers should talk to each other. Because if transport directory is different then first you press arrow button in STMS which will ftp data and cofiles from your other system transport directory. So, it is very important that these system should be communicate with each other and do ftp.

After this please check tp in STMS in your production system. And then analyze what is wrong.

Thanks

Sunny
