The Unattended installation Failed in MS Sql Server 2005

HI,

When we try to install a new instance by MS Sql server 2005. Server contains already three instances and we are trying to install the new instance it is pop-ups a error message " The Unattended installation Failed " With the Return code : 18456 Installation Step: SQL Server - build 9.00.1399 , kindly help us to resolve the problem.

Server Configuration: Windows Server 2003 64-Bit

Microsoft SQL Server 2005

Already three instances has been installed.

  Log File:          D:\Windows\SQL4SAP.log

Check the log file above.

See SAP note 1144459 for known issues.

Result: vbOK

It is not cluster server, kindly advice how to rectify.

Hello,

Is this a cluster installation ?

Problem could be that the drives for datafiles and logfiles were not set

as dependencies in the cluster-resource for the MSSQL.

HI,

I have checked the log files.

Error String : SQL Server Setup could not connect to the database service for server configuration. The error was: {SQL Native Client}{SQL Server}Login failed for user 'sa'. Refer to server error logs and setup logs for more information. For details on how to view setup logs, see "How to View Setup Log Files" in SQL Server Books Online.

Error Number : 29515

And also error state 10, kindly advice on the above error message.

Gopi,

I am unable to open the logs.

1. Make sure Is it working remaining 3 instances?

2. Try to open database before starting SAP MMC.

3. Check you event viewer logs at OS level.

Did you check the resulting installation log? Windows Event log?
